IXIA www.ixiacom.com has just introduced the Golden AP, not to be confused with GoldenEye from the Bond era! This pretty much builds a full lab test model into a desktop (with a handle on it!), testing platform. No mesh of cables to connect….just wireless to the wireless DUT (Device under test). Radically simplifies testing. As a Golden AP, it is a fully configurable a/b/g/n/ac Access Point with all 2.4/4.9/5Ghz channels supported as well as 4x4 MIMO, (80 MHz for 802.11ac). It is also a traffic generator for data, line rate voice and video will provide full control over Layer 1 through Layer 4 headers, packet rates, packet sizes and direction. All IEEE channel modes (A-F) are supported which are configurable on a per client/flow basis with transmit power of +15dBm to -50dBm to include range and roam profiles. A sniffer and protocol analyzer which can provide a 256MB capture buffer; can capture all frames and provides PHY Wireshark Extensions. There are port/client flows real time statistic counters and reports can be outputted in PDF. Finally a Vector Signal Generator is provided which will generate in either pulse or tone and can provide real time signal analysis for frequency/power and phase measurements.
